UFC 160: Hocus Pocus - Cain vs Velasquez Part Deux (WHY?!)

So, if you're like me, you look forward to UFC PPV's. Bellator is kinda off season right now. Pride has been dead and buried, ONE FC puts together good cards but guys with even less stateside visibility/name recognition, and the UFC really is the only consistent high level show in town.

That being said, the upcoming rematch (a misnomer in the truest sense of the word, since the first fight was barely that), for the heavyweight belt is a tough pill to swallow.

I've been watching boxing and MMA since I was a small child. I know that the fight game leads to mismatches and last minute replacements and champs rematch close fights and even in the UFC Frankie Edgar rematches 2 or 3 times in a row, and Urijah Faber is always one win away from a title shot while other guys like Jim Miller can win 9 or 10 or 11 fights in the UFC and never get a title shot.

Anyhow....to have Velasquez fight Cain, a guy he utterly demolished (I know what you're going to say, Cain actually beat Bigfoot to get his 1 fight out title shot rematch after JDS beat him inside of 2 minutes....which is MORE OF MY POINT), and THIS TIME IT IS FOR THE HEAVYWEIGHT BELT is just......I don't even know what to say.

I can't imagine the careful editing the department at the UFC will have to do to somehow spin this as anything other than a crushing forthcoming soul-reaving beatdown/demolishing for Bigfoot Silva.
You'll notice also that Mark Hunt in a fight he sounds less than thrilled about is facing JDS and the winner will likely then get a title shot against the safe to say Hispanic-descent likely winner of the main event.

In even more depressing news, the winner of TJ Grant (who?) and Gray Maynard (UGH) will "likely" get a title shot, that despite Gray's involvement in one of the worst fights to ever grace free television with Clay Guida. Cerrone vs Noons will be a pleasant stand n' bang affair. Te Huna and Teixeira will determine who is the scariest puncher at 205 lb's in the UFC and Khabib will likely continue his ascent to a later shot at the title with another impressive showing.

That being said, the rest of the card is as follows according to MMAJunkie:
"
MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FX, 8 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 6:35 p.m. ET)

Monday's UFC 160: The Hocus Pocus Preview and Grappling Multimedia Mailbag

A slow-ish weekend in the MMA world with no UFC taking place.

We do have a total joke of a main card/Heavyweight title fight coming up at UFC 160, though. I call it a joke b/c Cain absolutely demolished Bigfoot Silva from bell to bell the last time they fought (it literally began with the first kick Silva threw, which Cain caught, put Silva on his back, cut him open and pounded him mercilessly until the fight ended. Silva was literally never in the fight other than as a punching bag.
Take note title-shot challenger complainer Anderson Silva who also got his title shot under ignominious fashion after ONE UFC fight that was him KO'ing Chris Leben.

And if you missed it, MMAJunkie.com has a replay/stream of the Cage Warriors 54 event from Saturday at 2pm today:  Click HERE for an event recap.
